Studio Sunday… pulled in so many directions!!!

What a weekend so far!  So many plans for a new and improved Wenderflonia are flowing through my head.  I feel the creative spark just igniting within.  I just wish my time management issues and organizational skills were equally “sparky”.  Being a stay at home mom AND trying to build a creative empire is TOUGH!  So it goes without saying that my workspace gets a little chaotic at the moment!

I can’t even tell you what is going on in this photo except that it is a big mess!!  (You don’t even want to see the table behind it either!) As you can see, there are so many exciting new projects I am working on it is hard to keep them all straight!

One exciting adventure you can look for soon is a new direction I am taking with some of my work.  There will be announcements soon about a spinoff of Wenderflonia Studios which will branch out specifically with photography.  There will even be a whole seperate store!….Speaking of the Wenderflonia store, that is also about to get a whole new look and home as well…..  but that I will save for another day.

In the mean time here is a little taste of what I am working on.

This piece is a limited “Print and Paint” series I am doing on commission. … and that is all the details I can give for now….the sleepless one awakes…. BTW, does anyone have any tips on what to do with an insomniac one year old?! 🙂

Love you forever,

Wenders

Being for the The Benefit of Mr. Kite~ Beatles

I can’t believe that one year ago I was blessed to look into the beautiful eyes of my Jude Micheul.  It has been a whirlwind ever since.  HE has been a whirlwind!  We celebrated his one year birthday is style this weeked.  We had a Beatles themed extravaganza and so may of our wonderful family and friends joined us in celebaration.

The party was a huge success and a splendid time was guaranteed for all.

Especially for this little guy!  He loved every second of it and had a blast having so many people in the house to entertain him and feed him goodies.  The cake was a great hit.  We had it “commissioned” by the wonderful and fabulous people at The Cake Stand in McKinney, TX.  It was by far the most beautiful and tasty cake I have ever had…. Pretty sure Jude agreed.

We put so much time and effort into the decorations that the house looked amazing.  Honestly, it looks so lovely I didn’t want to take any of it down. I will definitely post more pics later when I have more time.

We also had tons of fun with our very own Yellow Submarine.

What a celebration!  We seriously partied all day!

After it was all said and done, I can’t help but reflect on some of my favorite highlights from pregnancy, birth and this magicaly exhausting year.

Thoughts about Jude.

~It was such a quick and uneventful pregnancy.  Once he started moving around in my tummy he never stopped.  I haven’t slept in well over a year!

~I was sad that I couldn’t deliver naturally and had to have Jude by scheduled C-section, but it was a fleeting sadness as I have a beautiful and healthy child and that is all that matters in the end.

~Going into Labor and delivery was a fun and happy ocasion.  I was fun to watch Simon freak out.  We prepared a playlist on the ipod to have playing in the OR and at aprox 1:07, while the Dr.s and Nurses were belting out “Na Na NaNaNa…Heeey Jude” (song #2 on play list), Jude made his grand entrance.  He was born to his name and that is one of the best memories of my life.

The nurses wouldn’t keep him in the nursery very long because he never stopped screaming.  He wouldn’t sleep unless he was breast feeding or being held…..he still will not sleep unless he is breast feeding or being held…..We are still VERY tired.

The following months were some of the most intense and happy months of my life.  Jude has a spark that is blinding at times. Jude has a determination that is stronger than most adults.  He doesn’t go around anything.  He either barels over or through whatever obstacle is in his way. That includes sleeping or not sleeping, eating or not eating, and furniture.

He is notably very serious and studies everything.  It is hard to get a picture of him smiling, yet he smiles and laughs all the time. He already shows he has whit and sense of humor.

Jude is a tiny little thing at just over 18lbs, but there is nothing delicate about him. He has grace and is well coordinated.  I am reminded of this constantly when I find him on top of tables and chairs, standing up in his highchair or balancing on the edge of anything he can.

Jude likes to french kiss pit bulls.  (Much to our dog Magners’ delight and my exasperation)

I have so many more thoughts about our life with Jude but I must go rescue the little booger, who has managed to climb inside his dresser drawer and is stuck…..

All you need is Love and

Happy Valentines and stuff

Happy Valentines day!  I’ve never been a big fan as it is just another one of those taken way out of context, overly commercialized holidays.  I have also reached a point in my life where consuming mass quantities of chocolate is probaly  a really bad idea.  That being said, I do believe that celebrating love is always a spectacular idea and the colors are pretty….. and maaaaybe a little chocolate in sensible amounts is ok too.  Therefore, I will reflect on all those I love and am grateful to have in my life.  I hope you do the same.

Yesterday was my birthday and for breakfast I am going to enjoy some leftover of this amay-ZING birthday cake!  My sweet 13 year old made it.  Isn’t he awesome! I had a wonderful time celebrating.  I even got to have a DATE NIGHT (woo hoo).  Farmor came to watch Jude while BFS and I snuck away for a lovely night out.  Yep, it was a good day to be me!

The rest of the week is looking to be very busy.  I have several paintings to finish and a super fab Beatles party to prepare for.  We will be celebrating Jude’s Birthday this weekend Magical Mystery Tour style with our family and friends.  I can’t believe my sweet Jude will be one on Saturday!  Now if I can just get off the computer and get busy…. I need to go make another list!

Shugar happy on life,

Wenders

An abundance of creativity

Did I mention that some days are more inspiring than others! Where am I gonna get the time of day to do all of the fabulousness that I have planned? Creative overabundance!

But what a great day for creativity.  I sent this to a wonderful friend who gifted it to her sweet husband who couldn’t wait until Valentines day to open.

Soon. you will know how to have your very own.  Never-the-less…The things I learned today were that yes, selling a painting feels good….and selling two paintings feels even better .  But what feels the best, is having the inspiration to continue to paint and create is the most rewarding of all.

Truth-be-telt,  I was getting scared there for awhile.  I hadn’t painted in so long that dust was gathering on the shelf and starting to creep into my confidence.  But I  knew if I held on long enough it would return with abundance.    and abundance is clearly taking over.

Creatively yours,

Wenders.

Studio Sunday: A mess of goodness

Alright, technically it isn’t Sunday anymore but dammit it is the only time I have to blog.

It has really been good to get back into the studio this week!  Despite being confined to the house due to ice and snow, I have really felt the inspiration to create.  I guess it is that time of year where my need to paint reawakens.  That need tends to go dormant during the holiday season until mid January then comes back with a fury… right about now.  In order to define myself as an artist I have to accept that I am a victim to these creative and uncreative whims…..awe hell, I resist it all the time, whatever….

SO! What is on the table for today? …..

Chaos!  Pure Chaos…. I am not sure I could work on a clean surface…..This was taken at 6:30am this Sunday.  I actually got up at 5:30 because the tiny sleepless one decided he needed to be awake….notice the baby monitor in the right corner….he fell back asleep and it seemed logical to just enjoy the quiet while it lasted.  Honestly, it is really hard to find time to work in this house.  It is filled with life, love and chaos.  What it is very rarely filled with are peaceful moments to escape into artful moments.  Mind, I wouldn’t change my sweet world for anything else (despite my ocasional breakdowns!).  But it is REALLY is hard to find times to escape into my paintings.  However, I figure there will be plenty of time for that later.  Right now, I really need to enjoy the babyness of my baby and the tenagerness of my teenager and support BFS in all the amazing things he gets up to.  In the mean time I will paint when I can paint and dream about a studio in a remote location….

I have several paintings I wish I could reveal, but until all commissions are delivered I must keep them under wraps.  I am experimenting with a few new techniques and have much to accomplish before mid-march when I launch a new face and storefront for Wenderflonia (and possibly another branch off that specifically emphasizes my photos). But enough of that, just know there are so many things whirling around in my head at the moment,  and I will share in all due time but the mean time I am working, working, working.   I feel I should also let you know I have been working to the inspiration of all the Armageddon movies we have in our dvd collection.  So far I have watched:  Zombieland, Independence Day, 12 Monkeys, Armageddon, Mama Mia (Not sure how that fits), and 2012.  Not sure  why, but I did.  I also just realized that Bruce Willis and Woody Harrelson are in a lot of apocalyptically themed movies.

The one thing I do know for absolute certain is that there better be no more snow days!  I love love love my boys but a week stuck in the house has left my floors in desperate need of mopping and no one will sit still long enough for me to do that.  Also, Parker needs a more formal education than learning how to create a bobsled runway out of the driveway…..although he was really good at it.

Full of love and ready for an adventure,

Wenders

Winter armageddon day #4

Winter armageddon continues with snow day #4 here in North Texas.  The world, at this point feels very surreal as we are stuck indoors.  It has been mostly ice rather than snow, although we are expecting the snow to show any minute now. I ventured out yesterday (only fell once and a half) to take a few photos but the 2 inch layer of ice on every available surface prevents me from taking baby jude anywhere….therefore, stuck inside.  Our sweet neighbor came by and cat littered our sidewalk but the ice is so frozen it is like a broken string of beads on the ground.  Sweet getsture though and will be very helpful when it melts a bit.

It took BFS almost 3 hrs to get to work today…. I guess he was that desperate to get out of the house and that seemed like the best option… can’t blame him….Hopefully one more day and the great defrost of 2011 will commence.

With cabin fever love,

wenders

News from the Texartica!

Talk about 70 to nuthin’ in no time flat.  We were wearing shorts and frolicking around the neighborhood a few short days ago and today everything came to a freezing stand still.  Everything was canceled and we had ourselves a snow day and maybe a few more to follow.  Temps were as low as 11 Fahrenheit.  That’s pretty cold for us southerners!  I dont have any fabulous pics to share because we stayed holed up today but I assure you we got the call that school and work was canceled for Wednesday and I will venture out with the camera and capture the goings on in the freeeezing cold.

Since BFS was home I was able to spend a good amount of time in the studio and I am pleased with the result!

I can’t wait tio get the ball rolling on all the new ideas I have!  Looks like I can still be inspired in the cold.

Love on ice,

Wenders
